The Denver Nuggets need to figure out contract extensions for Gary Harris and Nikola Jokic soon.

Gary Harris and Nikola Jokic are still under contract for the Denver Nuggets. However, the organization needs to devise a plan to extend both players soon before it comes back to bite them.

More from Nugg Love

Nikola Jokic has established himself as the star of the Denver Nuggets and Gary Harris has solidified himself as the anchor which keeps the core together. Per spotrac.com, Jokic becomes an unrestricted free agent in the 2019 season.

This will be plenty of time for him to grow and improve and by then, many team will be throwing massive amounts of money at the Serbian sensation. Harris is in a bit of a different contract situation. He becomes a restricted free agent in the summer of 2018 which mean the Nuggets will actually be able to match any offer made to the ever improving shooting guard.

Gary will also carry a heavy demand from other NBA teams as well as he has developed into a great shooter and has always been a solid perimeter defender. Harris and Jokic are debatebly the integral parts of this young and growing Nuggets core.

We all know Nikola Jokic is untouchable and the organization has made it very clear to other teams to not even bother even asking for his services in a trade. Both players are going to become even better players for the Nuggets in the future especially with Jokic being mentored by a star like Paul Millsap.

There is no question teams are already gearing up to make a run at both players and the Denver Nuggets need to do everything in their power to secure them long term.

Next: Three priorities for Denver

Harris and Jokic are poised for greatness and they most certainly deserve contract extensions before they hit free agency.
