Emmanuel Mudiay is a player who is still young, but has struggled, however it may benefit him to come off the bench.

Emmanuel Mudiay had a down season last year to say the very least. After finishing strong in his rookie year, he had a sophomore slump and even lost his starting job to the veteran point guard, Jameer Nelson. However, all hope may not be lost for the young point guard.

Even though it was only an exhibition game, Mudiay nearly had a triple double in the Team Africa vs Team World game. There was also his 24 point first quarter against the Boston Celtics last year as well. The point is, the kid can actually play and still has potential contrary to popular belief. The trick may just be finding a different role for him.

This is why the Nuggets should bring him off the bench as a back up point guard and let Jamal Murray and Jameer Nelson dual for the starting point guard spot in the rotation. Mudiay could thrive better with the second unit and it could help him cut down on the turnovers as well. Not to mention, it may help him play under control more often and not force up wild shots or passes all the time.

He would most likely be playing with guys like Trey Lyles, Juancho Hernangomez and Will Barton on the second unit and it looks as if he would be a better fit in their lineup compared to the starting rotation which will include Harris, Jokic, Millsap, Chandler and Nelson or Murray. Mudiay would be with players who are more in his league of talent on the bench and as a result, he could be very productive in this role and leading the other role players.

Mudiay may not be starting material, but he could still find success coming off the bench in a backup point guard role.
