Nikola Jokic opens up with 40-1 odds for MVP
By Mathew Huff
The Vegas odds makers have already worked their magic for the NBA MVP odds next season and Nikola Jokic has a very minuscule chance at winning the award.
Nikola Jokic is the Nuggets’ centerpiece and their future. Even with adding Paul Millsap, most agree the majority of the offense will be ran through Jokic next season with his great play making ability.

This play making ability has gotten him noticed by the NBA world. The Vegas odds makers have also taken notice. The odds for who is most likely to win MVP next year were recently released and Jokic has odds which are 40-1 for the award.
Is he going to win it? No, not while guys like LeBron and Durant are at the top of their games. However, this shows he could have a possible shot in the future if he continues to develop at the pace he is currently progressing at for the Nuggets.
For those who are wondering, the top five most likely candidates according to the odds were Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard and Giannis Antetokounmpo. With talents like these in front of the Joker, do not expect him to be even in the top 5 of MVP voting next season.
Do not be discouraged though. Jokic will still have an impactful season and we will get the privilege of seeing him grown right before our very eyes. With this growth, he will catapult his way into legitimate MVP races in the near future.
Think of these odds as another good stepping stone for the Joker on his path to greatness. Every player has to start somewhere and the fact that Jokic is even being mentioned in MVP odds is in of itself a win for Nuggets Nation.
