Sports Illustrated ranked Paul Millsap and Nikola Jokic in their top 30 on their top 100 NBA players list.

Sports Illustrated has shown the Nuggets some love this season with their top 100 list, particularly Paul Millsap and Nikola Jokic. After getting Wilson Chandler and Gary Harris on the list, the Nuggets were able to add two more to Sports Illustrated’s list.

More from Nugg Love

Coming in at the 27 spot was none other than the veteran star, Paul Millsap. Nikola Jokic is in at the 25 spot giving the Nuggets two players in the top 30 of the list. This list is a lot more credible than ESPN’s bogus list which ranked Carmelo Anthony 64 with a player who has never even played a single minute in the NBA.

I digress, so let’s delve into the two Nuggets’ stars ranking on Sports Illustrated’s top 100 players list. It is a bit surprising to see Millsap ranked behind the young Nikola Jokic considering Millsap is more of a two way player than Jokic is with Paul’s defensive capabilities. Not to mention, Millsap has more experience than the Joker, but Sports Illustrated may think Jokic is due for a break out season on both sides of the ball.

They may think the presence of Millsap will immediately bolster Jokic’s defense and make him start taking the steps towards being a center who can play both ways. Either way, it is great to see the stars of the Nuggets getting some much deserved recognition and it could mean the NBA fan base is noticing what is brewing in the Mile High city with their basketball team.

Having not one, but two players in the top 30 is virtually unheard of for Nuggets fans these days and they most likely haven’t had a star duo ranked this high since Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony.

All in all, it is nice seeing the two stars getting some respect.
