Emmanuel Mudiay needs to step up this coming season.

Emmanuel Mudiay has had a very up and down couple of seasons. Many fans feel he still needs to develop, but there is also a good portion of fans who feel he needs to show signs of greatness yesterday.

Both sides have good points, but one things every Nuggets fan can agree on is that he must step up this coming season. The point guard situation has become one of the biggest question marks for Denver and many are even thinking Jamal Murray will eventually win the starting role at the point, a player whose true position is actually shooting guard.

I think it is a bit early to be labeling Mudiay a bust, because he does show good signs of his potential once in a while. Examples such as scoring 24 points in a quarter against the Boston Celtics or nearly getting a triple double in the Team Africa vs. Team World game. He could even find a role as a solid back up point guard helping anchor Denver’s exciting second unit.

Jameer Nelson is still on the team and he brings a solid veteran presence to help bolster the starting unit, however, one does not need to be a starter to be effective in the game of basketball. Regardless, Mudiay must find a way to have a break out season and step up this year. If he can improve significantly this coming season, then he will show the organization that he does have a place in the future with them.

The Nuggets are already going to be improved with the addition of Paul Millsap this season, but if Mudiay can break out, then they will surprise many other fans and be even better than expected. Denver needs the young point guard to make a step forward.
