2017 Player Outlook: Jamal Murray

DENVER, CO - APRIL 7: Gary Harris
DENVER, CO - APRIL 7: Gary Harris

Jamal Murray is poised to take a step forward this season.

More from Nugg Love

He averaged close to 10 points per game and even showed flashes of being a solid point guard despite being a shooting guard. In one of his starts at the point, he recorded his first career double double scoring 10 points and recording 10 assists.

This season, expect him to become somewhat of a combo guard as the point guard spot is still a bit of question mark, which means Murray will definitely see some time at point this coming season. However, even if he does stay at his normal shooting guard position backing up Gary Harris, Murray will make a giant leap in his development this season.

Jamal was the only player to play in all 82 game last year despite playing with not one, but two sports hernias. He is now officially healthy and has been working relentlessly to improve his game this summer.

With all of this in mind, do not be surprised if Murray has a break out season this year. He most certainly will not succumb to the dreaded sophomore slump which plagues so many young players in the NBA. Murray could make Denver’s back court even more dynamic and make it very deep.

Murray is an electric young talent and there is good reason why so many Nuggets fans are ecstatic about his future with the franchise. While Murray is not quite at the same place as Gary Harris is yet in his growth, do not be surprised when people are talking about him as one of the main staples of the young core the Nuggets possess on their roster.
