Talents of which have included the likes of Dan Issel, Alex English, Dikembe Mutombo, Kiki Vandeweghe and Fat Lever. Oh, and of course we cannot forget the iconic former head coach, Doug Moe. The coach who made the Nuggets’ faced pace style of play famous in the 1980’s. On October 21, many of these legends memories will be relived and celebrated as the franchise will have a Legends Celebration to honor these great talents.
The players who will be honored are the ones who have numbers retired up in the rafters. Denver will be celebrating the memories of David Thompson, Byron Beck, Dan Issel, Alex English and of course Dikembe Mutombo. It is great to see the franchise recognizing the big names that made this franchise what it is and they certainly deserve the recognition.
The Nuggets will be one of the premier teams to watch this coming regular season as they have added a star in Paul Millsap to pair with the young budding star Nikola Jokic. These type of celebrations are becoming somewhat common for the Denver Nuggets. Last season at the first home game, they celebrated Dikembe Mutombo and wore the iconic rainbow skyline jerseys. While there probably will not be any throwback jerseys worn, the legends who have made the Nuggets famous will still make for an electric atmosphere in the Pepsi Center.
There is one thing every fan can agree on, it will great to see these former Nuggets get honored as legends in the Pepsi Center.
