As we creep closer to the regular season, today we look at a preview of the free-agent addition, Paul Millsap.

As we’ve stated countless amounts of times, the Nuggets made a much-needed splash with the signing of Paul Millsap this off season. After two of their division rivals traded for superstars, they had to respond and make a move of their own. That move was a great, and in my opinion underrated addition of Millsap.

I like this move so much because the Nuggets did something that the other teams didn’t. They got less selfish. The Thunder traded for both Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, two players who were the ball-dominant players on their team. They join another major ball-handler in Russell Westbrook, so in a way, they got more selfish. The Timberwolves traded for Jimmy Butler, another player who was very ball-dominant in Chicago. Will those work, that I don’t know, but it could be interesting to see how it would.

Paul Millsap will impact the Nuggets in many ways, and not just offensively. He is a very good defensive player, as he has averaged a steal and a block per game over his entire career. Millsap is a very experience player, as according to basketball-reference, he is entering his 12th NBA season.

He’s a great offensive player too, as he is able to stretch the floor and shoot deep, or go to work in the paint. In my mind, Millsap is the perfect fit for Nikola Jokic and this front-court. Also, maybe Malone doesn’t want him to play the four all the time. Well, then he can move over to the three, which he is also comfortable playing. He is resilient, and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Millsap also has experience for when it matters, the postseason. Sure, he hasn’t made an NBA Finals yet, but he has plenty of experience in the playoffs. He’s made the postseason nine out of the twelve seasons he has played in the NBA. This total includes all four seasons that he played for the Atlanta Hawks, and five with the Utah Jazz.

He will find a way to impact this team, whether it be off-the-court, offensively or defensively.
