The Denver Nuggets have decided to part ways with Josh Childress.

The Josh Childress era in Denver has come to an abrupt end for the Nuggets.

More from Nugg Love

After signing a short contract with the organization, the team has decided to part ways with the former Big3 member as training camp and preseason action comes to a close. Many speculated Childress was nothing more than an extra player for camp when he was signed and it would seem this speculation was correct.

Childress had NBA experience before he played in the Big3 league and he got another opportunity with the Denver Nuggets. If fans are being honest, the Childress signing was at the very least intriguing as the Nuggets only have two true small forwards on the roster with Wilson Chandler and Torrey Craig. Juancho Hernangomez can also play the three spot, but he is still technically a stretch four.

Childress comes off a preseason where he averaged very limited time and it would seem both sides somehow knew the tenure would be short. The franchise has yet to officially announce the move as HoopsRumors was able to find out about the news.

Childress was an extra man on the roster and considering the Nuggets do not have a G League affiliate, they almost have no choice but to part ways with the veteran small forward. He could always go back to the Big3 league so he can continue to play the game he loves, or he can always retire if he has had enough of the game.

With the release of Childress now, the Nuggets are regular season ready as they are down to 15 players on their current roster and Childress was unfortunately the odd man out.

Let’s hope to see Josh Childress find success somewhere else in what he decides to do next.
