Joker Leading the Way for Nuggets

What a night to say the least. The Nuggets were visited by the Nets just eight days after getting the win in Brooklyn and went 2-0 in the series against the Nets.

Nikola Jokic led the way for his teammates with a season high 41 points. The Joker also threw in 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals for his incredible night. Will Barton and Paul Millsap each had 17 points. Barton has been a significant player for the Nuggets off of the bench this season and continued tonight with 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Millsap, who is finding his way out of a slump, had 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Jokic, Barton, and Millsap were all key players in the Nuggets’ win over the Nets, 112-104.

The Nets were led by center Tyler Zeller, who came off of the bench for 21 points and 5 rebounds.

The leading starter for the Nets was D’Angelo Russell with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists within 21 minutes.

 Hot Moments

What looked like Will Barton missing a pass to Nikola Jokic ended up being an incredible no-look pass to Mason Plumlee. Miss it? ESPN didn’t!

It’s no surprise that Nikola Jokic had some tricks of his own tonight as he took the ball from coast to coast, going between defenders to sink the shot.

Quick Stats

The Nuggets starters were able to all stay positive. Jokic had a +/- of +25, followed by Gary Harris’ +20 with 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Wilson Chandler had a quiet game but ended the night with a +/- of +18. Chandler was just short of a double-double with 9 points and 10 boards. Millsap had a +/- of 16 and Jamal Murray ended the night with a +/- of 4.

The starters for the Nets did not do nearly as well, as nobody ended the night on a positive note.

Tonight, the Nuggets starters outscored the Nets starters 80-40. This in itself was key for Denver’s win over Brooklyn tonight in the Mile High City.

Denver shot well tonight as they were 47.8% from the field, but only 27.3% from beyond the arc, and 75% from the free throw line.

As of right now, Denver is now 3rd in the Northwestern division, only behind Portland (.5) and Minnesota (1.5 games back). Denver now had 6 wins and 5 losses on the season. An improvement for them to be able to reach the post season is to win the close games.
