Jokic got the Western Conference Player of the Week award along with Detroit’s Tobias Harris who won the Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors. During the week, the Joker averaged 22.7 points per game, 13.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists per game and surprisingly 2.3 steals per game and a block per game!
Yes, I think this shows Jokic is growing as a player and not just on the offensive end of the floor. This is big for the organization considering he is the first Nugget to get this award since all the way back in the 2013 season.
Who was the last player to get it you ask? Does the name Ty Lawson ring a bell? Yes, the point guard we had such high hopes for who eventually ruined his potential with alcohol was the last Nugget to win the Western Conference Player of the Week before Nikola Jokic earned it.
Out of every player in the West, Jokic was the clear cut winner last week which included a game which saw him drop a career high 41 points over the Brooklyn Nets. This was not all as the other games he had just solid all around performances which propelled the Nuggets to win along with rising up in the Northwest division and helping Denver climb the power rankings.
Jokic had a bit of a hiccup in their most recent game against the Portland Trail Blazers, but I expect to bounce back and have a solid game in the team’s next match up against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Either way you slice it, Jokic was very deserving of this honor.
