Nuggets Take Disappointing Loss Against Rockets

The Nuggets visited Houston tonight to face the Rockets and only found disappointment as they went 1-2 on their three game road trip.

Nuggets vs. Houston

The Rockets set the pace for the game and the Nuggets just weren’t able to keep up. The Nuggets had a season low with points scored in the first quarter–just 17. Denver allowed the most points all season when the Rockets led 75-40 at the half. By the end of the night, the Nuggets were blown out of the Toyota Center with a 125-95 loss to the Rockets.

The Nuggets were without Paul Millsap, who suffered a wrist injury on Saturday against the Lakers; Millsap will be out indefinitely. A pretty scary moment came for Denver when Nikola Jokic went down during the second quarter and left to the locker room. Luckily, Jokic returned back later in the second quarter to finish the game.

Denver was led tonight by Will Barton with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Jokic had 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Gary Harris played through 30 minutes and had 13 points and a single rebound.

Houston was led by Trevor Ariza with 25 points and 2 assists. Chris Paul had a double-double with 23 points, 2 boards, and 12 assists. James Harden had 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists in his 32 minutes.

Denver shot 40.2% from the field, 30.3% from beyond the arc, and 65.2% from the free throw line. The Nuggets also had 43 rebounds, 19 assists, and 11 steals. The Rockets shot 54.9% from the field, 43.9% from behind the three-point line, and 73.9% from the charity stripe. Houston had 46 rebounds, 30 assists, and 13 steals.

Denver and Portland are still tied for second in the Northwestern Division with a 10-8 record. The boys in blue will head back home to the Mile High City and will face the Grizzlies on Friday night.
