The Nuggets’ road struggles could be their downfall.

The Denver Nuggets have been one of the worst road teams in the league this season. They have been dominant at home with a record of 8-2.

Their road record on the other hand, is much worse. So far this season, Denver has a record on the road of 3-7 which includes a couple of bad blowout losses. The Houston Rockets had their way with Denver when they played along with the Portland Trail Blazers.

However, the Utah Jazz loss was the inexcusable blow out. They were without Rudy Gobert, so Denver clearly should have had the upper hand. Yes, they are without Paul Millsap, but they also still have Nikola Jokic. The Nuggets must shore up their road struggles before it is too late.

Their road record could be the difference between making the post season and missing yet again. Denver cannot play every game in Mile High and even then, they will lose some games at home as the year goes on. If they can start playing better on the road, the team could remain competitive while Paul Millsap heals from his injury.

Someone needs to step up for this team. They need a third option they can rely on when Gary Harris and Nikola Jokic are struggling in away games. Someone like Jamal Murray should be hungry for this type of opportunity. All the elite teams know how to handle business on the road. Until Denver starts doing this, they will never be taken seriously.

Teams like the Knicks and Lakers are teams Denver should have beaten, but didn’t. Losses like these always come back to bite teams who barely miss the post season.
