The Nuggets returned to the Pepsi Center after a rough six game road trip where they went 4-2. Tonight, they were ready for a win as the New Orleans Pelicans came into town for a quick visit.
Nuggets vs. Pelicans
The Nuggets came home ready to get a win after their disappointing trip and they found exactly what they were looking for. While it wasn’t looking very promising after the first quarter, where the Pelicans finished on top 33-20, the Nuggets began to slowly fight back as they went into the half, 58-46. After the half, the Nuggets slowly began to push and finished the third 86-76. Denver who was still down ten fought in the fourth quarter and took the game into overtime, 104-all. The Nuggets eventually found themselves a with a 117-111 overtime win, sweeping the season series.

Gary Harris was the leading Nugget with 21 points, 2 rebounds, and 5 assists in his 43 minutes. Trey Lyles and Will Barton both ended the night with 19 points each and combined for 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Nikola Jokic made his return to the court and came off of the bench with a double-double of 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists–Jokic played 22 minutes.
DeMarcus Cousins led the Pelicans with 29 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists. Anthony Davis had a double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds in his 44 minutes on the court.

Denver was able to shoot 46% from the field, 44.4% from the three point line (just .3% better than NOLA), and 64.3% from the free throw line. Denver was able to snag 48 rebounds and pass off 30 assists. The Nuggets had 15 turnovers for the night.
The Pelicans shot 47.3% from the field, 44.1% from beyond the arc, and 71.4% from the charity stripe. NOLA had 42 rebounds, 27 assists, and 20 rebounds tonight.
With tonight’s win, Denver has continued to be second in the Northwestern division with a 16-13 record, just one game behind the 17-12 Timberwolves. The Trail Blazers are just half a game behind Denver with a 15-13 record.
The Nuggets will face the OKC Thunder on Monday night in OKC. Tip-off will be at 6:00 pm MST.
