Despite Jamal Murray doing well in a duel between two former Kentucky Wildcats, the Nuggets still came up short at home.

The Denver Nuggets still continue to struggle within their own division. Just a couple of nights after losing by one to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver fell victim to the red hot Minnesota Timberwolves.

What ensued in this game was a duel between two former Kentucky Wildcats. Jamal Murray and Karl Anthony Towns. Murray put up an impressive 30 point total to try to counteract Towns’ 25 points.

Towns also hauled in 10 rebounds giving him a double double on the night. Nikola Jokic did score 22 points, but he really struggled as his 10 turnovers were one indication of this. Turning the ball over was the worst thing the Nuggets could do against this young Wolves core and that is exactly what they did.

The result? Not surprisingly, a disappointing single digit loss in front of the Pepsi Center faithful.

Denver was short handed for this game as they were without Gary Harris and Emmanuel Mudiay. As a result, Denver paraded a different type of starting rotation for this game. They went with a big lineup starting both Plumlee and Jokic in front court while sliding Torrey Craig ( who had another solid outing by the way,) over to the shooting guard spot. It is hard to find consistency night in and night out when there is always an injury always tweaking the rotation one way or the other.

Minnesota proved why they are currently at the top of the Northwest division in this game and Denver paid the price for not being prepared enough.

Night in and night out, the coach must make sure the team is ready to make the necessary adaptations to win and that is what Malone failed to do in this game.
