Trey Lyles really came out for vengeance against his former squad as he posted a career high 26 points on 52.9% shooting to go along with seven rebounds.

Jamal Murray had one of his signature “blue arrow,” games as he too posted 26 points on an extremely efficient 69.2% shooting. Murray was the spark of a monster run which shifted the momentum at a crucial when he got a four point play. It was Gary’s night against the Suns and this game was meant to be Jamal’s night. For Nuggets fans, it is good to see such nice chemistry developing in the Denver back court between the two young guards.

It was looking to be a dog fight to the finish until a monster third quarter where the Nuggets exploded for 38 points compared the Jazz’s 16.

Denver continues to be dominant at home which will be extremely key in the second half of the season as they are vying for playoff positioning in the competitive Western Conference.

It was somewhat of an obscure win as the Nuggets did not really go deep into their bench and their star player struggled. However, we have seen players play with a chip on their shoulder against old squads in the past and that is what Lyles did. Without Lyles, the Nuggets would not have been able to salvage a 99-91 win at home over a key division rival.
