Denver has to win this game on their home floor against the Grizzlies considering the Los Angeles Clippers are creeping up on them for the eighth and seventh spot in the Western Conference. Not only that, this is a must win because the Nuggets will have a tough test against the San Antonio Spurs on a back to back after this game.
So, which match up will be key in this game? That would be the battle at the center spot. Nikola Jokic and Marc Gasol already faced off once this season. In that match up, Jokic got the better of Gasol and the Nuggets got the win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
However, things have changed since then. The Grizzlies fired their head coach right after that game and the Nuggets have been one of the most inconsistent teams since then.
Nikola Jokic is coming off one the worst games of the season where he only logged nine points and did not even shoot 20% from the field. Denver is on a slow downhill spiral as of right now and they need Jokic to step up to couple with Gary Harris’ terrific play if they want to get back on track.
Marc Gasol is still one of the best centers in the league despite playing on a struggling team this year. As a result, Jokic will have to be ready if he does not want to repeat his performance against the Atlanta Hawks.

It will be interesting to see who gets the upper hand in this match up as both of these centers are very evenly matched. Let’s hope the Joker can lead the Nuggets to a key win.
