You know it is bad when this high powered Nuggets offense cannot even crack the 90 point mark. The only players who even looked interested in playing in this game were the two main options, Nikola Jokic and Gary Harris.
Harris returned after missing the previous game due to personal reasons and logged 18 points, but only shot 37.5% from the field. He did have two steals as well. Jokic on the other hand finally got back on track as he scored 23 points on 61.5% shooting and also had nine rebounds and seven assists coming extremely close to his second triple double of the season.
Both of these players were literally the only Nuggets who even got into double figures in this game as the rest of the team struggled mightily. They allowed Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge, the two Spurs stars, to eat them up and allowed David Bertans to drop 18 points on them coming off the bench.
From the opening tip off, the Spurs had the Nuggets number. It was all down hill for Denver from there. They were terrible with their defensive rotations and were lackadaisical in their perimeter defense. They allowed the Spurs to shoot a much too high shooting percentage from deep of 51.9% and also let them shoot 52.6% from the field.
Denver falls to a record of 22-21 while the Spurs improve to a record of 29-15. Denver has to be cautious as the Clippers and Pelicans are creeping up on them in the Western Conference standings.
