Despite coming close to blowing a lead, the Nuggets escaped with a win over the Mavericks.

It was far too close for comfort, but the Denver Nuggets were able to pull out a win over the Dallas Mavericks. However, they became too complacent in the second half and nearly let the opponent come back which would have been an extremely frustrating loss.

More from Nugg Love

Nikola Jokic had a monster game where he racked up 18 rebounds, 29 points and a healthy dose of seven assists. He found ways to get involved in a positive way early on and it helped set the tone for the rest of the way.

He even recorded one of his outstanding no look assists which resulted in an easy two points at the rim. Not to mention, he was pretty much tackled in a very dirty play, but did not let that faze him. Jokic was clearly the player of the game for the Nuggets.

Dennis Smith Jr. came close to saving the day for the Mavericks as he was the catalyst for monumental comeback in the second half. Without him, Dallas would have probably gotten blown out in the Mile High.

The Nuggets had a great first half, but almost choked in the second half. This is not a good way to win in the NBA. The best teams always make sure to finish strong regardless of how they start a game.

Denver got lucky as they were battling a struggling Mavericks squad. If this had been any other playoff team, the Nuggets would have probably lost and lost more ground in the Western Conference playoff race.
