The Nuggets are coming off a ten point win over the Suns in Phoenix and are in the heart of a treacherous stretch of games. A stretch of games which include the Spurs two different times actually, the Rockets and the Clippers. As a result, this game is going to be very instrumental in Denver’s playoff hopes.
San Antonio is short handed, so the Nuggets must utilize their depth to give them a chance of victory over the Gregg Popovich led Spurs. The last time these two teams played each other, the Spurs were able to prevail. It was only by two points though and Will Barton was very close to hitting a game winning three point shot which rimmed in and out giving the Spurs a victory.
San Antonio is always a tough match up, no matter who they rest and who they start, so just because Denver is at home will mean very little in this game. As a matter of fact, Denver has not defeated San Antonio in over a year.
Denver will need to utilize all of their talent and even go deep into the bench since the Spurs can get production from every single player on their bench. Guys like Devin Harris, Mason Plumlee and even Malik Beasley will be key in keeping up with the five time champions.
