However, the Spurs showed they are still a force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference. Despite being without their superstar, Kawhi Leonard, they still have many weapons at their disposal including All Star LaMarcus Aldridge.
Denver has been on a hot streak so far this month as they have only tallied one loss in the loss column which came at the hands of the first seed in the West, Houston Rockets. Other then that game, they have had some impressive wins against the likes of the defending champion, Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks and even the San Antonio Spurs before the All Star Break.
A major key Denver has to focus on is shoring up the pick and roll defense. The last time these teams played, San Antonio feasted off of easy looks in the mid range and at the rim which were freed up from picks from Pau Gasol and LaMarcus Aldridge.
This time, the Nuggets know they can defeat the Spurs which is a double edged sword. It will give them the confidence to keep up with this veteran squad, but this is also an aspect the Spurs are known to take advantage of over the year.
It will be a tough battle, but if the Nuggets have proven anything this month, it is they are very resilient.
