Today at Nugg Love, we take a look at the great, Alex English.

Alex English is one of the most important figures in the Denver Nuggets’ history. As a matter of fact, he may be the most important player in their illustrious history.

He is at least in the top five in terms of greatest Denver Nuggets of all time. He was a terrific mid range shooter and could score the ball at will. He helped lead the team to the Western Conference Finals in the mid 1980’s and was a sure fire hall of famer for not just the Nuggets, but for the entire NBA as well.

But, what all did he accomplish? Let’s take a look at his basketball resume and take a moment to appreciate the greatness he displayed for the Nuggets’ franchise.

  • Led the league in points scored for the 1980’s.
  • One time scoring champion.
  • Eight time NBA All Star.
  • Three time All NBA Second Team.
  • Number 2 retired by the Denver Nuggets.
  • Number 22 retired by his college, University of South Carolina.
  • Led Nuggets to 1985 Western Conference Finals.
  • Leads Nuggets in franchise history in points scored.
  • Averaged over 20 points per game for about nine seasons.
  • Basketball Hall of Famer (1997).

As one can see, English has an impressive resume in terms of his basketball legacy. He is in the hall of fame for a reason and it is important for every avid Nuggets fan to know about him and what he meant to the franchise.

English may not be as known as guys like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, but he is still one of the most prominent figures the 1980’s era saw in the NBA.
