Fat Lever’s basketball resume
By Mathew Huff
After taking a look at Alex English’s greatness, we decide to look at his counterpart, Fat Lever, and his resume today.
Fat Lever is one of the most underrated point guards of all time.
Denver Nuggets
Nuggets fans know how dominant he could be and was a triple double machine before Russell Westbrook was even a thought.
Many avid NBA fans and former players will even acknowledge how great Lever was in his prime and it is almost criminal how he is not remembered in the crop of 1980’s stars. He was a great force and formed a dynamic one two star punch alongside the great, Alex English.
Without further adieu, let’s take a look at his basketball resume.
- Two time NBA All Star
- All NBA Second Team (1987)
- NBA All Defensive Second Team (1988)
- Number 12 retired by the Denver Nuggets
- Two time First Team All Pac 10 in college
- Franchise leader in steals for the Nuggets
- Second all time in assists for the Nuggets franchise
- One of only three players in NBA history to record 15 plus points, rebounds and assists in a single playoff game (the others being Wilt Chamberlain and Jason Kidd).
- Eighth on all time triple doubles list in the NBA
Lever was a great addition for the Nuggets. When he played, he always left out on the court.
He was a great two way player who could facilitate, but lock down key opposing perimeter players at the same time.
