In order to get back into the top eight, they must find a way to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers at home while hoping some of the other West teams lose as well.
Denver has to be wary of this Lakers game. While they are in a rebuild process as of right now, they have had a few surprising games this season where they have upset some of the top teams in the entire league. Not to mention, Denver has developed a bad habit of losing to teams they are better than on paper this season.
See losses such as the Hawks, Kings, Knicks, Mavericks and yes, even the Lakers once this year. As a result, the Nuggets CANNOT get complacent and overlook this young core the Lakers possess.
On top of this, they have to come out aggressive and not let these young players beat them at their own game. Denver thrives in the fast break, especially at Mile High. So, they cannot let the young Lakers players get out and out run them to start off the game.
The first quarter woes have plagued the Nuggets as of late, so it is vital they start off the game on a high note. The Nuggets must come out and show why they are a potential playoff team compared to one which is rebuilding from the opening tip.
