Just when you think the off season cannot get better for the Denver Nuggets, they make another good decision.

With the latest signing, the Denver Nuggets granted Monte Morris a three year $4.8 million deal. The core of youth seems to be officially solidified now.

They are taking the right approach by bringing in a ton of young and hungry talent to mix with a nice blend of veteran talent (Paul Millsap and Isaiah Thomas.) With Monte Morris now on the roster, the Nuggets now have three point guards on their active roster.

Their depth chart of point guards consists of Jamal Murray, who one can consider a combo guard, Isaiah Thomas and now, Monte Morris. Morris had a great Summer League outing which played a major role in netting him a spot in the Nuggets’ active rotation.

One could make the case that Monte Morris was the best player on the team’s Summer League roster this season.  Morris led the league to a promising Summer League start and was a key contributor in every game, even the games in which the team lost.

After seeing him play at this high level, it seemed as if it was only a matter of time before he found himself with a new deal with the Denver Nuggets. This is a genius signing by the front office considering if Isiah Thomas does not pan out, then they have a back up plan at the back up point guard position.

Remember, the Nuggets only signed Thomas for a year on the veteran minimum. Basically, it is a “show me,” type of contract.

Bringing in a promising young point guard who will benefit the team in a positive way is the cherry on top for a great off signing for the Denver Nuggets’ front office.
