Denver Nuggets: With Will Barton now startin’ I figured the bench would take a hit, but the front office went to work and got us tools for the kit.

It all started at the draft, and oh man what a day. We were sitting at fourteen and landed MPJ.

More from Nugg Love

At first I wasn’t sure, but this kids the real deal and getting him so late was nothing but a steal.  If it weren’t for his back he would have been in the top three and now he’s got Nugg City buzzing like a bee.

When healthy, you’ll all see he’s got the chance to be elite.

He can shoot, he can drive, he’s just a gifted athlete.

With The Thrill taking his talents into the starting five, we needed to add some scoring to keep the bench alive.

We signed Isaiah Thomas when no one else would take the chance. And if he plays to his potential then we should thank him in advance. He’s a scorer and a warrior and he just wants to compete. He’ll leave defenders looking like they have two left feet.

The bench wouldn’t be complete without Mason Plumlee. He’s tall, he can jump and he’s the anchor to our D. He’s the backup big who’s best known for catching lobs. His offense isn’t pretty but his defense does the job.

The next two guys are tweeners, but man can they score. They’ll have some big games that’ll leave you wanting more. We got Trey Lyles from a rival and the kid just wants to play. But he’s got to be consistent if he wants to stick and stay.

I know limited minutes makes it hard to showcase, those highlight reel plays when he’s dunking on your face.

Next we have a shooter who goes by the name of Juancho. His jumpers so wet that defenders need a poncho. He’s streaky and inconsistent and he’s got to work on his D, but when he gets it going coach has got to set him free.

Lastly we have the guy who scores in summer league so easily. Denver is still getting to know the real Malik Beasley. Is he the guy who drops thirty in summer league games? Or is he the guy who runs wild and coach can’t seem to tame.

The bench is rich with talent and we’re deep at every spot.

Now it’s up to coach to give these guys a shot.
