The Denver Nuggets may have an underrated point guard in Jamal Murray.

The Denver Nuggets were able to snag another steal in one of the past drafts after they got Nikola Jokic. Jamal Murray fell into their laps at the seventh pick and the Nuggets were able to capitalize on the opportunity.

Fast forward a couple of seasons and the Nuggets have found their point guard of the future in the Kentucky sensation. He is more of a combo guard, but he is more than capable of playing the point, which he proved this past season.

He upped his scoring average from about 10 points per game to about 16 points per game. Not to mention, he is more than capable of creating his own shot and facilitating the offense. So, with all of this in mind, it begs another question? Is the Denver Nuggets’ starting point guard actually underrated?

You may be surprised. When it comes to the most underrated Nuggets, many will say Gary Harris or Nikola Jokic. However, Murray is also underrated.

When it comes to his draft class and last year’s draft class, every NBA fan is high on some other young point guard, (looking at you Lonzo Ball fan boys who won’t admit he is highly overrated.)

Murray has solidified himself as a staple in Denver’s core and one could also make the case he is better than Buddy Hield who was picked one spot ahead of him. Murray is on pace to become Denver’s own “Steph Curry,” especially if he keeps increasing his scoring average by six points per game.

He is already a terrific three point shooter averaging a career three point percentage of 35.9%.

It may be hard to realize it, but in terms of being a complete player, Jamal Murray is underrated for how young he is as a starting point guard.
