DENVER, CO – DECEMBER 30: Will Barton /

Signing Will Barton long term: C+

For the record, I have nothing against Will Barton. However, granting a player who has been known to play hero ball at the worst times possible $54 million does not really compute to me.

Yes, he can create his own shot and when he is hot, he is sizzling. Sadly, I want a little more consistency from players of Barton’s caliber.

Who knows, maybe him sliding into the starting wing role will make him change his game a bit.

Barton is a player who is either going to give you 20 points on 50% or above shooting, or give an inefficient 10 points, there seems to be no in-between. As I like to say, a “poor man’s J.R. Smith.”

We will see if Barton can live up to the new deal in his new role with the Denver Nuggets.
