At first glance Devin Booker’s stats trump Jamal Murray’s from last season.

More from Nugg Love

Points Per Game:

Booker:  24.9        Murray:  16.7

Assists Per Game:

Booker:  4.7          Murray:  3.4

Rebounds Per Game:

Booker:  4.5          Murray:  3.7

These numbers make Booker the easy pick.

He averaged over 8 points per game more than Murray and he averaged more assists and rebounds per game as well.  But these stats don’t tell the whole story.

Last season was Booker’s third in the league and it was Murray’s second.  Really good players typically make a big jump from year 2 to 3.

Booker also played on a “tanking” Phoenix team where he was able to get up almost 20 shots a game compared to Murray’s 13.

If you’re taking more shots naturally you’re going to score more points.

Still, Booker’s scoring ability really stands out.  I mean the dude dropped 70 in a game in just his second year!!!
