Despite a successful off season, the Denver Nuggets still missed out on some key free agents.

Despite the Denver Nuggets drafting Michael Porter Jr., it would have been ideal for them to land a solid wing for at least one year. Will Barton may surprise people, but these three free agents they missed out on are true small forwards.

More from Nugg Love

For the record, we will not be counting guys like LeBron James and keeping our eyes on more realistic free agents for the Denver Nuggets this past summer.

Without further adieu, let’s delve into the three players the Nuggets missed out on who would have benefited them in a great way this summer.

Jabari Parker- Parker was one of the restricted free agents coming into this summer. What drove the Nuggets away was his price. He eventually ended up with the Chicago Bulls after a bidding war between them and a couple of other teams. He would have been a serviceable small forward for the Nuggets and would have thrived in a role as the starting wing in the Mile High who can show flashes of offensive brilliance at time. Not to mention, he has some great length as well when it comes to playing defense.

Marcus Smart- Smart would have been a nasty defender for the Nuggets. Their defense would have increased ten fold with his presence on the roster. The Nuggets could have found a way to utilize him off the bench or even play him or Gary Harris at the three spot. Smart would have been an ideal player for this Denver core.

Tyreke Evans- Evans got paid this summer. However, he was not in the same range as Denver’s price range. The Nuggets could have used him as a wing for a year or two while Michael Porter Jr. gets ready for the big leagues. Evans is coming off a career year and the Nuggets could have still kept Barton as a presence off the bench. These free agents would have been ideal for the Denver Nuggets.
