The Denver Nuggets’ Paul Millsap has made some massive improvements in one key area of the game.

Paul Millsap of the Denver Nuggets may have had a down season last year thanks to a wrist injury, however, there is one major aspect where he has started to excel in, an area which is vital in today’s NBA.

That would be the three point shooting department. Per basketball reference, Millsap improved his three point percentage this past year from 31.1% to 34.5%.

This past year was his best three point shooting year since the 2014-15 season where he shot 35.6% from deep. Ever since then, his average went down the next two years to about 31%. At least, until last year when he bounced back as a perimeter shooter.

This is a great sign considering the Nuggets are a high flying offense which relies heavily on a hefty scoring load. The Nuggets are a porous defensive team, so it is imperative for them to have success on the offensive end of the floor. Not to mention, Millsap also had a field goal percentage of 45.2% from 10-16 feet away from the basket.

This will come in handy this coming year considering he will be able to space the floor, especially when Nikola Jokic is operating in the post and looking for open men for easy play making opportunities. One does not need to only at three point percentage to see that he was actually beneficial for the Nuggets when he was on the floor.

Last season, Millsap possessed a box/plus minus of +4.3 while on the court. If this is a sign of things to come, then the four time All Star may be worth his $90 million contract. He will be getting plenty of open threes in the Denver Nuggets’ offensive scheme.

Paul Millsap has bounced back from three and it will be interesting to see if he can keep it up this coming season.
