3-Point Shooting Lineup

PG: Jamal Murray

SG: Gary Harris

SF: Will Barton

PF: Trey Lyles

C: Nikola Jokic

There is just one change in here from the projected starting lineup, so that’s a very good sign for the Nuggets. Fun fact: the Nuggets, Celtics, Warriors, and Grizzlies were the only teams last year to have 4+ players shoot 37.8%+ from 3 on 3+ attempts per game.

More from Nugg Love

Jamal Murray shot 37.8% from 3-point range on 5.4 attempts per game last season. His 3-point attempt rate of 41.1% ranked 4th on the Nuggets(min. 100 attempts) and his 5.4 3-point attempts per game were the 43rd most in the league. He also became the only player in NBA history to make 2.0+ 3-pointers per game slashing 37%+ from 3 aged 20 or younger.

Gary Harris was one of 11 players last season to make 2.3+ 3s per game while shooting 39.6%+ from 3-point range(min. 55 games played). He was the youngest among that group and he attempted the second fewest 3-pointers. He is one of the best 3-and-D players in the league and will only improve with time.

Barton is probably the weakest 3-point shooter in this group, but he still gets the job done from the perimeter. He’s also one of the most well rounded 3-point shooters in the league. He was one of 8 players last season to average 15+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 4+ assists while shooting 37%+ from 3-point range. He is one of 39 players in NBA history to put up those numbers. He may not be the best 3-point shooter on this roster, but he’s certainly better than Torrey Craig.

Trey Lyles may have some troubles, but he is nothing if not a good shooter. He was one of 50 players last season to attempt 3+ 3-pointers per game while shooting 38%+ from the floor. He is the t-3rd tallest player on that list and he played the 2nd fewest minutes per game. If he gets some more minutes next season, he could develop into one of the deadliest 3-point assassins in the league. That’s a big if, however.

Nikola Jokic is not just one of the best passing big men of all-time, he is one of the best shooting big men as well. He is one of 3 players in NBA history to average 10+ rebounds while shooting 39.6%+ from 3-point range(min. 100 3-pointers made). He was one of 31 players to shoot 39.6%+ from 3-point range last season(min. 100 3-pointers made). He was the second tallest in that group and he had the second most assists as well. He is truly a unique player and a phenomenal shooter.
