The Denver Nuggets will take on the Los Angeles Clippers after a few days of rest.

The Denver Nuggets are coming off an ugly win over the Perth Wildcats. A win which saw the Nuggets almost lose in the second half after blowing a lead.

Thanks to the second unit, Denver was able to escape with a win despite the starting rotation struggling mightily. However, the team will now shift it’s focus to the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers may not exactly strike one as a post season threat, especially in the competitive Western Conference, but they still have some valuable assets.

Tobias Harris is a solid wing player who had a great overall year last season. Boban Marjanovic got the best of Nikola Jokic last year in a game where he posted a career high 18 points. Not to mention, Lou Williams is the reigning Sixth Man of the Year who is capable of dropping an easy 30 points on any given night.

The point is, the Nuggets cannot overlook this squad, otherwise they will suffer their first loss of the preseason. Gary Harris and Jamal Murray have to play better after a lack luster game against Perth which saw them score less than 10 points.

In order for the Denver Nuggets to overcome their struggles with the starters, they need to be prepared to play all four quarters and not take a break in the middle of the game. The Clippers are coached by Doc Rivers still, a coach who has a NBA championship on his resume, so the Nuggets are going to be in for a tough battle. Rivers is good at cultivating young talent, so guys like Montrezl Harrell could be the X factor for the Clippers. Harrell had a great game against the Nuggets last season as he looked like the former Nugget, Kenneth Faried as he was catching lobs for alley oops and grabbing second chance rebounds left and right.

Will Barton has to be more efficient and we are still waiting for Paul Millsap to have a signature Paul Millsap game so far this preseason. It will be up to the starters to start off strong, so the second unit does not have to save them again.

Next. Why you should support the Denver Nuggets. dark

Eventually, teams are going to start to capitalize off of the starters’ troubles regardless of what team they are playing. The Nuggets should win, but the starters have to start off fast and efficient.
