The Denver Nuggets are in for a nail biter with the Los Angeles Clippers at the half time.

The Denver Nuggets currently lead the Los Angeles Clippers by three points at half time. The score is 64-61. However, the Clippers are being scrappy and putting up a great fight.

Once again, the bench for the Nuggets has came in and saved the day like they did against the Perth Wildcats and the Los Angeles Lakers. Denver’s biggest lead so far has been only five points where the Clippers have led by as many as 10 points.

If the Nuggets are going to hold on this lead, then some adjustments are going to be in order to get this team back on track. The Denver Nuggets have the pieces to get their fourth preseason win, but they have to play better defense.

Will Barton has already gotten 11 points so far on 57.1% shooting from the field. Gary Harris has only scored three points albeit with two of them coming off a big time dunk. The second unit has been stellar once again as alluded to earlier.

Trey Lyles has gotten 12 points on an outstanding 62.5% shooting to go along with six key rebounds. He also has shot 50% from three point territory. Another key player coming off the bench for Denver has been Mason Plumlee for a third game in a row. So far, he has scored 7 points on 75% shooting and has also grabbed a rebound.

Monte Morris has also gotten nice penetration on the Clippers’ interior defense, even though his stats do not show it. He has set up a couple nice pick and roll plays and kept the Los Angeles defense honest. He will need to continue this in the second half in order to keep the Nuggets’ offense aggressive and in attack mode.

Malik Beasley has been looking hungry as well as he has made some key plays offensively which included a fast break dunk which resulted in an and one opportunity for him. The Nuggets have to clean it up a little bit in the second half.

They committed too many turnovers (7) in the first half. The Nuggets will most likely play their bench players in the second half so it will be interesting to see how this second unit fares for a whole half against these young and hungry Los Angeles Clippers.

Let’s hope Denver can put all the pieces together to come away with a win.
