The Denver Nuggets were able to get a narrow win over the Chicago Bulls thanks to the starters knocking off the rust.

The starting unit for the Denver Nuggets finally found their groove. After a couple games where the starters struggled, they were finally able to mesh and scrap together a nice performance.

For starters, the core trio consisting of Gary Harris, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray put up numbers we have became accustomed to seeing on a normal basis. Jokic came away with 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists to go along with a box plus/minus of +10.

Not to mention, he also shot 66.7% from the field along with shooting 75% from three point territory. A typical Joker game that we have been waiting for this preseason since the second Los Angeles Lakers game.

Jamal Murray scored a healthy 17 points to go along with a box plus/minus +13, but also came away with a surprising five steals to aid in Denver’s defensive effort. It paid off as they held the Bulls to 93 points in the 98-93 win. We have became accustomed to seeing Harris handle the bulk of the perimeter defensive duties, but this night, Murray was the defensive star of the night.

Gary Harris finally broke out of his funk as he got a game high 18 points on 60% shooting from the field. He also came away with four rebounds and two steals to go along with one block. Harris finished with a box plus/minus of +9.

The one guy who came away with a surprising night was Will Barton. Barton scored 13 points and had a game high box plus/minus of +15. A much more efficient night compared to the last game where the team lost to the Los Angeles Clippers.

All in all, it was great to see the starting unit knock off the rust before the regular season. The Nuggets now possess a preseason win loss record of four and one.

For the Chicago Bulls, Jabari Parker was the high point man as he scored 19 points, six rebounds and a box plus/minus of +13. Looks like the match up to watch between Will Barton and Jabari Parker did not disappoint as both players had overall solid games.

It looks as if head coach, Michael Malone, decided to play the starters heavy minutes to get the rust off and to get them into rhythm with the regular season just around the corner.

It was good to see Denver bounce back after a loss.
