The Denver Nuggets’ Jamal Murray needs to step up against the Sacramento Kings.
The Denver Nuggets’ young combo guard in Jamal Murray has had an up and down start to the season to say the very least.
In the two point win over the Golden State Warriors, he did not make a single shot from the field and only came away with a putrid three points. In the season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers, Murray struggled as he shot 25% from the field to come away with seven points.
He also came away with only three assists though he did log a player differential of +18 in this particular match up against L.A. However, in the second game against the Suns where Jokic had his historical triple double, Jamal had the second highest scoring total of 26 points on 50% shooting.

He also recorded five assists to go along with an insane player differential of +37 in this win. What we can take away from this is that Murray is ready to have a break out season, he just needs to find a way to get his legs underneath him and make an impact on a consistent basis.
This is not new for Murray. When he transitioned to the point guard from the shooting guard spot last season, he would have a great game followed by a dud for about a couple of weeks. As the season progressed though, he was able to put up solid numbers and this translated into an improved points per game average.
He went from averaging 9.9 points per game his rookie season to 16.7 points per game. For Murray, this game against the Kings could be pivotal. He will be matched up with De’Aaron Fox who is averaging around 20 points per game so far.
As a result, this will not be a cakewalk for Murray, but could end up being a great confidence builder if Jamal is able to get back on track. He is the point guard of this team and as we know in today’s NBA, the point guard is one of, if not, the most important position on the floor.
It will be up to Jamal Murray to answer the bell as the team looks to go 4-0 to start the season.
