Gary Harris of the Denver Nuggets has had a great season so far.

With that being said, is the Denver Nuggets’ two guard, Gary Harris, ready for an underrated award? The Most Improved Player of the Year Award to be specific.

We all know about his great work ethic and his ability to improve every year of his career so far. If the season were to end today, I firmly believe he would have a good enough case to win the award.

So far, he is averaging a career best defensive rating of 106 and an offensive rating of 126 which is also a career high so far.

Not to mention, Harris is averaging 3.8 assists per game to go along with a steal average of 1.2 per game. His assists percentage is also at a career best of 18% and also has a total rebounding percentage of 6.1% along with a usage rate of 22.1%. Gary has also increased his offensive rebounding percentage from 1.8% a year ago to 3.2% so far this season.

It is only a matter of time before the league finally takes notice of his incremental improvements year in and year out. This season, he has clearly solidified himself as the second option in the Denver Nuggets’ offensive scheme behind Nikola Jokic.

He has only had one underwhelming game so far, the Los Angeles loss, but the rest of the match ups have gone his way. He held his own against Jrue Holiday not allowing a single point in a total of 23 possessions and flexing his defensive IQ. Bear in mind, Holiday had a great playoff run last year and is considered one of the more athletic guards in the whole league.

With all of this in mind, it is safe to assume that if the NBA season were to end today, then Gary Harris would be the Most Improved Player of the Year.
