Denver Nuggets: Match up to watch vs. Boston
By Mathew Huff
The Denver Nuggets will battle the Boston Celtics and the match up to watch will the battle at the point guard spot.
The Denver Nuggets’ young starting point guard, Jamal Murray, is going to have his hands full in this game to say the least.
He will be tasked with going up one of the premier point guards in the entire NBA in Kyrie Irving.
Irving, who started out the season slow, is starting to get back to his All Star ways as he is averaging 17.9 points per game on an effective field goal percentage of 52.2%. Not to mention, he is also averaging a 3 point shooting percentage of 38.2% which goes to show just how deadly he has been from down town.

Murray on the other hand, has had a bit of a up and down start to the new season. Jamal is currently averaging 15.7 points per game to go along with an effective field goal percentage of 47.1%. Murray’s 3 point shooting percentage has taken a bit of a hit so far as he is only averaging 27.5% from that range.
However, that percentage should go up as the season progresses. Remember, last year was a bit of a rocky start for the Kentucky sensation as well, but he eventually settled into his role over time.
This match up is intriguing to say the very least. You have arguably the face of the athletic star point guards of the NBA going up against what may be the vanguard of next great generational point guards.
Is Jamal going to slow down Kyrie when he is on defense? Of course not. Irving is simply too athletic and seasoned of a NBA star to let a young point guard hold him below his averages.
However, Murray does have the offensive talent to perhaps match him bucket for bucket from time to time. Do not be surprised if this happens in a few spurts throughout the game.
If you are a fan of either of these teams, then this is the match up you will clearly be paying close attention to throughout the game. It very well could determine the outcome of the game.
Jamal Murray will certainly have his hands full, but, Kyrie Irving would be foolish to simply overlook this young and upcoming combo guard for the Denver Nuggets.
