2 Player Grades vs. Cavaliers

Juan Hernangomez: A

Juancho was certainly the biggest factor in the Nuggets’ win. He put up 23 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal on 60.0% shooting from the field and 62.5% shooting from 3-point range. He did all that in just under 29 minutes.

His BPM of +18 paced both teams pretty comfortably, and his ORtg of 158 was second highest on the Nuggets. He played solid defense as well, putting up the aforementioned 2 blocks and a steal to go along with a DRtg of 105. On 7 field goal attempts against him, he allowed only 2 total makes and 0 3-pointers. He also forced 3 turnovers, fouled 0 times on defense, and even drew an offensive foul.

He became the first Nuggets player to make 5 3-pointers in a single game this season and was overall an unstoppable force on offense. Juancho was the main reason the Nuggets beat the Cavs, so for that, he gets an A.

Paul Millsap: A-

Millsap was the secondary star of the show in Cleveland. He recorded 16 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal on 66.7% shooting from the field. He also canned his only 3-point attempt on the night. While those numbers don’t pop off the screen right away, when you consider his low minutes total(just 21), they become much more impressive.

Millsap led the Nuggets in ORtg(166) and had the highest BPM(+11) of any of the starters. He was also stellar on defense, posting the second lowest DRtg of any of the starters(101). He also held Sam Decker to 4 points(while he was on the court), 28.7% shooting, and 5 missed field goals.

It was a very solid game from Millsap, and the only reason he doesn’t get a higher grade is his 3 fouls and his low minute tally.
