Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets had a career night against the Boston Celtics.

With that being said, the Denver Nuggets’ starting point guard, Jamal Murray, did not come away from this game without drama.

Murray hoisted up a long three at the end of the game when the outcome was already decided as he tried to achieve his first 50 point game. As one probably already knows, he finished with a career high 48 points.

Kyrie Irving took particular offense to Murray’s three point attempt and retaliated by throwing the ball into the crowd after time expired. Here is what Irving had to say after he was fined by the NBA per USA Today.

"Kyrie Irving on his fine: “Well deserved.”Took full responsibility for his actions, but also noted of Jamal Murray, “You just don’t play basketball like that. … it’s just petty, it’s immature. But we’ll see him again though.”"

While it is understandable for the Celtics to be upset after a tough loss like that, the rest of the NBA and it’s peers need to lighten up a bit.

The kid was simply wanting to get 50 points and it he could have done worse. He could have drove in for an easy dunk which would have been a definite case of throwing salt in the wound. Instead, he heaved up a shot which had little chance of going in, which it did not resulting in a 48 point game instead of a 50 point game.

Many are comparing this to the game last season when he dribbled around Lonzo Ball in the waning seconds of a win over the Los Angeles Lakers. However, this was mild as Murray was not intending to “embarrass,” anyone.

Plus, let’s be honest. It is about time the Nuggets got a player on their team who is willing to tic some people off from time to time. Every great team seems to have an instigator anyway ala a Draymond Green, or even Marcus Morris who is the last person who should be talking about professionalism by the way.

Not to mention, let’s not act like half of these critics would not have done the same thing if they were in the same position as Jamal. Kyrie Irving would have most definitely done the same thing as he is a pure scorer with killer instinct. He proved that in the Finals a few years back when Cleveland won the title.

All in all, everyone needs to chill out about Murray heaving a three to try to get 50 points. There was no harm in it and it is time for everyone to stop being so soft.
