The Denver Nuggets are on a 3 game losing streak and they will look to snap it against the Houston Rockets.

The Denver Nuggets have let 3 games which were easily winnable slip away from their grasps. Which match up will be the one to watch as the Nuggets look to re-gain their momentum from the very start of the season?

That would be the battle at the point guard spot. Jamal Murray vs. Chris Paul.

Chris Paul has been relatively struggling to start the season as he is averaging 17.3 points per game while shooting only 40.5% from the field.

He is also averaging 33.9% from 3 point territory to go along with a career low offensive rating of 108 so far this year. His offensive box plus/minus also only stands at 1.9 so far and is averaging a turnover percentage of 15.2%. Not Paul’s best season so far to say the very least.

However, Jamal Murray is also having his fair share of struggles as well. Murray is averaging a field goal percentage of 43.8% so far this season along with a 3 point shooting percentage of 29%. His offensive rating is currently the same as Chris Paul’s, 108, and his offensive box plus/minus is at a low 0.6. Not to mention, his turnover percentage is sitting at 10.9%.

Obviously, we all know that Chris Paul is still one of the elite point guards in the entire NBA. We all know he is still better than the young and developing Jamal Murray. However, if Murray could bounce back and at least keep pace with the elite veteran point guard, then the Nuggets will be in very good shape.

He does not need to actually out play CP3, he just needs to have an efficient night which should help translate into a solid night for the team. Murray has to find a way to shoot above 45% from the field and come away with a healthy dose of assists as the starting point guard of this Nuggets team.
