In an attempt to snap their four game losing streak, the Denver Nuggets will take on the Atlanta Hawks.

With that being said, which Denver Nuggets player needs to step up in this particular game? The answer is none other than the former Atlanta Hawks All Star, Paul Millsap.

Millsap has had a streaky season so far. He is currently averaging 12.7 points per game to go along with an offensive rating of 111. His defensive rating has taking a concerning increase to 105 and he is also averaging an offensive box plus/minus of -0.2.

Not a great number to possess for someone making max dollars to say the very least. What better way to bounce back than having a great, stand out performance against one’s former team where he made a name for himself?

For this game, Millsap will most likely be matched up with either Dewayne Dedmon or DeAndre’ Bembry. Either way, Millsap should have the upper hand due to his experience and his star power. Millsap has been doing a nice job of spacing the floor as of late, which really opens up the Nuggets’ offense which is predicated on tons of fluid ball movement and opening up perimeter shooters for open three point shots or opportunities to cut toward the rim.

Not to mention, Millsap has to show his value on the defensive end of the floor as well. So far this year, he is averaging 1.1 blocks per game to go along with a steal per game.

These numbers have to improve, especially when you take into account that his front court mate, Nikola Jokic, is averaging better defensive numbers than him as well. Jokic is having his best year on the defensive side racking up 1.3 steals per game and a defensive rating of 102 which is a career low in this category so far.

With the Hawks coming to town, it is time for Paul Millsap to showcase his skill and show the fan base why they brought him in free agency a couple of summers ago.
