Denver Nuggets: Where does their front court rank?

We have already discussed the Denver Nuggets’ young and dynamic back court, now let’s turn our attention to the front court.

The Denver Nuggets have an elite front court consisting of Paul Millsap and Nikola Jokic. There is no doubt about this fact.

However, just how good is their front court as a whole? This season, we are seeing the backup power forward and backup center make tremendous strides in assisting the Denver second unit. I am elaborating about Trey Lyles and Mason Plumlee.

For Trey Lyles, he has certainly found a home in the Mile High where he can fit in, unlike in Utah where he seemed to be a permanent fixture on the Jazz bench with little to no playing time. So far this season, Lyles is averaging a career high 11 points per game to along with a usage rate of 24.5%.

Not to mention, he is also averaging a career best 1.6 assists per game. Now, we come to the stars. Nikola Jokic is in the MVP conversation as he is averaging an insane 7.2 assists per game and having his best defensive year yet with a current defensive rating of 101. Paul Millsap has had a bit of a bounce back season as he is averaging 12.9 points per game along with 1.3 steals per game and 1.2 blocks per game.

With this whole front court unit in mind and how well they are playing, I think we can safely put them up in the top five with the league’s best front courts such as the New Orleans Pelicans and the Golden State Warriors when DeMarcus Cousins returns from injury.

It will be imperative for the front court to continue to produce at a high level as the season progresses.
