Can the Denver Nuggets stay on top of the wild West?
The Denver Nuggets are currently the Number 1 seed in the Western Conference and will remain there with a win over the Charlotte Hornets tonight.
The Denver Nuggets have gotten here with a 9-1 start, then suffered through a 1-6 run, and are now on a 7 game winning streak featuring their recent win over the Toronto Raptors (No 1 record from the Eastern Conference and in the NBA).
That being said, how long can the Nuggets remain ahead of teams like Golden State, and Oklahoma City? Also nipping at their heels is another surprise team in The LA Clippers, and that other LA team with that LeBron James guy.
Winning ball games is the only way the Denver Nuggets can stay atop the elite Western Conference.

They start in Charlotte tonight followed by a trip to Atlanta before returning home for Memphis. After that comes a home game with conference rival Oklahoma City and a rematch with the Toronto Raptors.
The Nuggets will again be without Gary Harris as he recovers from a hip injury. So they’ll need the strong performances to continue from the rest of the cast.
Jamal Murray is averaging over 20 per game over the last five and may need to continue doing so until help arrives from the injured list. Paul Millsap has continued to look the part of a star and make himself and Nikola Jokic one of the NBA’s best front courts.
Jokic is managing to score 16.5 PPG and flirt with a triple double average while not always being the top scoring option.
So far, Denver is finding ways to win big games and must continue doing so if they truly belong atop the standings. If the defense can stay as stingy as they’ve been then it seems a scorer or scorer(s) are in no shortage on this team.
If the Nuggets can survive the injury bug and go strong into the new year the people may be asking the same question come playoff time.
Are the Denver Nuggets the best team in the Conference? NBA maybe?
