Jokic is very deserving of this award for the week as he also just earned his fourth triple double of the season in the win over the Miami Heat along with hitting the game winning floater. This triple double also put him in rarified air as he is closing in on Kareem Abdul Jabbar and the legendary Wilt Chamberlain in terms of becoming the center with the most triple doubles in NBA history.
He joined the two hall of famers as the only centers in NBA history with 20 or more career triple doubles. However, Jokic also put up some other incredible numbers throughout the week.
The Joker has averaged an impressive 19.2 points per game so far this season to couple with an outstanding 7.5 assists per game. He is also averaging a rebounding total of 10.1 per game and he also possesses an offensive rating of 118 and a career low defensive rating of 105.
In the past 10 games, Jokic is averaging 23.6 points per game, seven defensive rebounds per game, a field goal percentage of 54%, 1.6 steals per game, 10.6 total rebounds per game and has shot 40% from three point land in that span.
With numbers like these, it will certainly be a travesty if he is not selected to the this season’s All Star Game at least as a reserve.
All in all, he is deserving of winning the player of the week last week.
