Denver Nuggets: 3 sharpshooters to target in the 2020 NBA Draft
While each of the players listed is an elite 3-point shooters, the player who makes the most sense for the Nuggets is TCU’s Desmond Bane.
Bane’s combination of proven marksmanship, experience, basketball IQ, defensive ability and offensive versatility make for a player that can be relied on as a rotational player in his rookie season if the need arises. With Torrey Craig set to hit free agency this offseason unless Denver decides to extend a qualifying offer, this could be just the opening that Bane needs in order to enter the team’s rotation.
Because he wasn’t highly recruited entering college and chose to play all four years at TCU, Bane’s commitment to improvement is seen in his actions, mindset and development.
TCU men’s head basketball coach Jamie Dixon, who played for TCU in college and was drafted by the Washington Bullets in the 1987 NBA Draft (although he never played an NBA game) has surely been a great teacher. Dixon was named as 2009 USA Basketball Coach of the Year after coaching the FIBA U-19 team to a gold medal and has won a number of other awards, including Big East Coach of the Year (2004) and Naismith College Coach of the Year (2009).
Bane is one of the safest picks that the Nuggets could make at the end of the first round.
