Jerami Grant and the Denver Nuggets are on the path to a long-term partnership.

For those wondering where Jerami Grant’s focus lies looking ahead to his impending free agency, it appears that the 26-year-old forward would like to return to the Denver Nuggets.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Nuggets and Grant have “significant mutual interest” in reaching a new deal (subscription required) after he declines his $9.3 million player option for the 2020-21 season.

This always appeared to be the belief, so it’s unsurprising. However, there are other teams that will be interested in Grant’s services, which is what makes it prudent to note Denver’s competition this fall.

While Charania reports that the Detroit Pistons, Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Mavericks are teams expected to make a run at Grant, the Atlanta Hawks and Phoenix Suns have also been linked to the six-year pro.

The Pistons, Suns and Hawks are among the teams projected to have the most cap space this offseason.

In any case, with the role Grant played in the Nuggets’ playoff run and the way he gelled with the rest of the roster, it would be wise move for both sides to have him back in the fold.
