The NBA is definitely in a phase where wings are the most valuable players on a roster. From three-and-d role players to two-way wings who can dominate games, a contending team needs both depth and skill at each wing position.

Depending on which basketball theory you subscribe to, you will quantify wings as either shooting guards and small forwards, or shooting guards, and both forward spots – it gets difficult if a four is also a five, but whatever.

With Will Barton, Aaron Gordon, PJ Dozier, Michael Porter Jr, Jeff Green, JaMychal Green, Zeke Nnaji, and Vlatko Cancar on the roster, the Denver Nuggets have a wing rotation capable of facilitating, playmaking, and scoring at an elite level. Obviously, when the likes of Gordon or Porter Jr go to the bench, there’s a slight dip in talent, but their replacements are predominantly NBA tested and capable of carrying a second unit.

The NBA season is notoriously long and arduous, and depth at every position is integral to a team’s chances of finishing the season with a good seeding position for the playoffs. The Denver Nuggets will be hoping their strength in wing depth will see them through the season unscathed and they can finally have a playoff run that doesn’t rely on countless fairytale comebacks for them to progress deep into the post-season.
