Veterans the Denver Nuggets should target: Donte DiVincenzo

The Big Ragu has always been a streaky shooter, which has impacted his ability to perform consistently on offense. That being said, he remains one of the best young perimeter defenders the league has to offer, which should be enough to entice Denver to sign him this offseason.

Coming off a year in which the fourth-year guard notched career-highs in assists (3.6), steals (1.5) and defensive rating (111.6) with the Sacramento Kings. While also averaging over 26 minutes per contest through 25 games in the City of Trees. It might seem crazy for Sacramento not to re-sign him this summer.

However, DiVincenzo has made it pretty widely known that he is not happy in Sac-Town and even believes the team was misusing him down the stretch to limit his value in free agency. Whether or not this is true remains to be seen, but it is the Kings, after all. So, he wouldn’t be the first player to force his way out of town.

On the other hand, this is fantastic news for the Denver Nuggets. Who are cap-strapped and would only be able to sign players to a mid-level exception or veteran minimum anyway.

Not only would DiVincenzo be able to provide some much-needed defensive assistance along the perimeter. As the Villanova product has made a habit of anticipating and disrupting passing lanes and chasing down loose balls. But he’s also just 25-years-old and has championship experience from his time with the Milwaukee Bucks.

So, he’d certainly be a nice addition to the group and one that could provide some valuable minutes off the bench alongside either Morris or Hyland. Depending on the direction the Denver Nuggets want to go next season.
