After falling 0-2 in the preseason following uninspiring losses to a Chet Holmgren-less Thunder and the Chicago Bulls bench mob. The Denver Nuggets rebounded in a big way on Monday night, narrowly defeating Devin Booker and company in a heated 107-105 contest in Ball Arena.

The most impressive part of the victory wasn’t just Denver’s ability to slow down the sharpshooting Booker, limiting him to just 20 points on 5-of-17 shooting from the field and 2-of-9 from three-point range. But also their ability to spread the ball around and get everybody involved on offense without their best passer, Nikola Jokic. Resulting in impressive performances from rookie Christian Braun, veteran point guard Ish Smith, and the ever-explosive Bones Hyland.

Now, the Denver Nuggets turn their attention to the Los Angeles Clippers, who are 2-1 in preseason action and look to continue their hot streak at home later tonight. While the Nuggets recent win over the Suns has given fans reason for optimism, the latest odds see the Clippers as the team to beat.

Nuggets Injury Report

The Nuggets appear to still be dealing with injuries to their two most lethal offensive weapons, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Bones Hyland is also considered to be a game-time decision due to a left ankle sprain suffered earlier this week. While Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Aaron Gordon could also sit out due to rest.

Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Clippers Prediction

While the Denver Nuggets were able to sneak out a win just a few short days ago against the Phoenix Suns, a team coming off a 64-win season and primed for another strong campaign. The Denver Nuggets are even more hurdled now than they were then.

With the number of injuries Denver is currently dealing with, chances are Michael Malone and staff aren’t going to be taking any risks with the regular season just days away from tipping off. On the Clippers’ side of things, Normal Powell is considered a game-time decision with a rib injury, but the rest of the unit appears good to go.

If the team is indeed without Jokic, Murray, Hyland, Gordon, and KCP, they’re going to need some extraordinary performances from Ish Smith, Bruce Brown, Zeke Nnaji, and Michael Porter Jr. just to keep up with LA’s plethora of stars. And given MPJ’s recent struggles, shooting just 2-of-11 from the field and 1-of-5 from deep on Monday night. This feels like a contest that could get out of hand fast.
